RADUGA


RADUGA – RUSSIAN PAINTINGS AND ART EXHIBITION

 Raduga” (Russian for Rainbow) is the Paintings exhibition at the “Days of Russia in Mumbai”, an event organized by Cultural Centre of Russia, Mumbai and Vernissage Art Gallery, Cochin along with the Moscow Chamber of Handicrafts which is being held at the Cultural Centre of Russia, Mumbai from 25th September - 03rd October, 2010 to showcase paintings and handicrafts by Russian artists.

The exhibition will be inaugurated by Mr. Randhir Kapoor, veteran actor, director and producer on 25th September 2010 at 6 pm. The show continues thereafter daily up to 03rd October 2010, between 10 am and 8 pm.



“Raduga”, is brought to the art loving populace of Mumbai for a nine day period as part of the ongoing celebrations of the 110th Anniversary of the  Russian  Diplomatic  Mission  in India.
The event exhibits paintings by renowned artists  like Mr. Anatoli Soloviev and Mr. Mansoor Sattarov alongside the works of emerging artists like Ms. Daria BK, Ms. Daria Antonova, Mr. Daniel Chepik and Ms. Liza Matevosyan.

These contemporary avant-garde artists have reinterpreted the European styles by combining them with their own distinctive innovations. The paintings represent contemporary Russian art, including figurative and narrative art, still life, landscape painting, surrealist, realist and portrait paintings.

40 oil paintings in different genres by six artists will be displayed at the venue besides Russian handicrafts like Matryoshkas (nesting dolls), Khokhloma, Lacquer boxes, Musical Boxes, Zhostova trays, stuffed dolls, toys, patchwork and embroidery items by artisan Ms. Marina Ignatkina .

Vernissage Art Gallery, based in Cochin is an initiative aimed at providing a platform for Russian and Indian Artists to showcase their creative talent.

Vernissage has the unique distinction and honour of being the first private enterprise to partner with the Moscow Chamber of Handicrafts (a Russian Governmental Institution) for promoting and exchanging art and culture between the two countries.  

Since its inception in 2010, “Raduga” (Rainbow in Russian) is the third event showcasing Russian art and culture organized by Vernissage, Cochin.

“Zarya” (Sunrise in Russian), the first event to be held was a Russian paintings exhibition organized in February 2010 followed by the Russian Handicrafts exhibition  from 9th September – 19th September 2010 at Cochin.

As of now, Cochin will be the hub for Vernissage, which will in future, take these events to the major cities in India like Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai.
